| MYRIAM SZABO started training in Ballet in the US at the age of 3.
When 12 years old she joined the Russian Ballet Irina Grjebina in Paris as a solist. Later on she would come to undertake extensive studies of Hatha Yoga, Buddhistic meditation and Shotukan Karate.
She would then follow further training in various dance expressions such as oriental (with Shokry Mohamed, Leila Haddad etc…), and other ethnic styles such as Flamenco, african, jewish and modern expressionist (Mario Calixto…). She currently studies and practices Chi-Gong with France Detry and Alain Baudet.
Famed Fashion Model from 1981 to 1982, she took part in significant works such as the “Avenir” campaign , working with J.F. Jonvelle among other known photographers. She then retired from professional life to study Buddhism and the Tibetan language.

In 1990, she started a new career in the South of Europe comprising of
varied activities, such as the foundation of cultural festivals (Rota
Jazz - Porto, Wild Women’s World - Serpa, Moura Encantada…), producing
tours for such artists as Koen de Cauter, Ghalia Benali, Annie Nganou,
Tarikavalli etc… She also collaborated closely with the film
industry, working with Directors João Cesar Monteiro, Tony Gatlif,
Margarida Gil, Alain Tanner….
As a solist dancer, she worked
closely with Roby Lakatos, Ghalia Benali, Shokry Mohamed, Moussa El
Kenawy, Ciganos de Ouro…and as an author and choreographer, she created
“Histoire de Yanarava”, “Simplement Votre”, “Lalyta Nomada” etc…
Her favourite activity has become teaching, and her experience includes such varied environments as Expo98, WWW Festival, Andanças and many more workshops and classes (Also regular classes in primary and secondary schools, in Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Cap Verde).
In 2000, she created an association called “Mafia Mystika” which mostly promotes the “EcontrOriente” event in Lisbon. Now “DuendeNet” is the promotor of THE Duende Project.
She also recently formed the “Salamantras” group, and is now deeply involved in the DUENDE Dance project ( “Duende Dance : dancing on the path”)
